Actually the Pugliese Torpedo Defense System the Italian used for the Littorio-class, Conte di Cavour-class and Caio Duilio-class battleships was a catastrophically failed design. Instead of reducing the damage from a torpedo hit, the form of the used cylinder guide the energy of the blow to the weakest points of the ship’s hull and caused critical damage to the ship itself. Therefore a single torpedo could drive such ships into serious trouble where other battleship classes could withstand 3 or 4 torpedo hits.
The fact, that the Italian battleships could be recovered after the British attack on Taranto was possible because several ships was grounded to prevent a sinking of the ships.

马塔潘海战里面那发航空鱼雷击中覆盖到普列塞系统的船尾而丧失全部动力,而后面吃了一发威力更大的潜射鱼雷,明显受损小很多,修理时间也短很多,另外普列塞系统确实出现了意料之外的问题,因为焊接技术不过关,导致普列塞系统连接部脱落并大量进水,并不能说明普列塞有问题
